Weekly Update to City Council
from the City Manager
October 17, 2008

Red Light Cameras
We should have proposals within 3 weeks from the red light camera vendors.

Fire Training
Personnel conducted training with Medical Director Ralph Talkers M.D. on Shock and Advanced Airway Management and “Safe Haven” procedures for newborn infants.  Cutting edge airway management equipment “Glide Scope” was demonstrated.

Rumpke 90 gallon Waste Toters
We are developing the details regarding the Rumpke toter program and anticipate bringing back to City Council in November.  The tentative schedule is to approve the program this quarter, with implementation during the winter and early spring.

East End Master Plan
Planning Department is continuing to work on the new zoning classifications for the area east of I-75 to implement the East End Master Plan.

Downtown Redevelopment
The DART Committee will meet next Thursday at 7:00pm to resume progress towards the implementation of a National Main Street Program.

Flu Vaccines
The Influenza Season has now officially begun. There is no vaccine shortage this year so the demand for flu shots should easily be met.  Once the Middletown City Health Department receives their shipment of vaccine, they will coordinate with the Personnel Division to schedule a City Employees (current and retiree) clinic.  There will also be available times starting early November to service the population in need of flu shots that have difficulty obtaining vaccines due to the cost or lack of access.  Please stay tuned for details.
