    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="http://www.middletownusa.com/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=216">randy</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 1829<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> Aug&nbsp;28&nbsp;2009 at 8:51am<br /><br />Taken form the August 23, 2009 City Managers Report<br><br>F<span style="font-weight: bold;">rom the International City Management Newsletter </span><br style="font-weight: bold;"><span style="font-weight: bold;">Jacksonville, Florida, Housing Authority Revokes Recent Section 8 Vouchers.</span><br style="font-weight: bold;"> <br>I have not heard of Middletown being notified of reduced funding, but it may be possible in light of the following article.<br>&nbsp;&nbsp; <br>TheFlorida Times‐Union (8/12, Conner) reported that "the JacksonvilleHousing Authority is revoking housing assistance for 150 families whorecently were issued rent vouchers," after it "got late notification ofreduced funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and UrbanDevelopment, said Larry Gonzalez, who oversees JHA's Section 8 VoucherProgram." The authority's shortfall "amounts to about $1.5 million,"and Gonzalez "said HUD instructed the Jacksonville Housing Authority touse its reserves to keep funding the program." According to theTimes‐Union, "Around the country, the last‐minute cuts from HUD haveleft Section 8 agencies scrambling. <br><br>Some have even had to cutoff people already living in subsidized apartments."
