I though the stained was full to capacity daily, don't tell me that a fancy smancy place like that wouldn't survive in our bustling downtown? Interesting, with a few possibilities:

Liquor permit might have belonged to the former owner/management team.
If the separation was not a good situation, then a sale/transfer might not occur.

non-renewal, or denial due to situations(failure to pay state taxes, or violations of any sort)

Liquor sales there never seemed large, and the bar area never seemed busy--

maybe with the possible opening of the adjacent Canal Pub(intertwined ownership?), there was not enough liquor business to justify two adjacent properties having permits--or the state would not allow these two adjacent properties with possible intertwined ownership to have two separate permits?

just guesses

Evidently stained bistro has lost their liquor license. The restaurant is open but the bar is closed.
