12:42 AM, 8/25/2009 Watch yourself if you need to be there. Had a piece of metal in my eye and went to Urgent Care, the doc there saw it but said go to the er, the er doc sent me for a back x-ray, said he didn't see anything wrong.
Next day went to the new university hospital there off Cox Rd., they took the metal out of my eye, gave antibotic drops and that was that. Charlie
12:24 AM, 8/25/2009 For those of you that know what "the other side of the ER" that is shut down is, YOU HAVE BEEN IN THE ER WAY TOO MANY TIMES!!! For those of you that are here all the time, and still complain about how long you have to wait, and how we've inserviced you, SHUT UP!! If you know the employees on a first name basis, and we know yours, MAYBE YOU SHOULD GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!! Hopefully the construction keeps the trash out! And also if you call ahead to ask if we're busy, IT'S NOT AN EMERGENCY!!
upset human being....
11:50 PM, 8/24/2009 Not yet seen their 2nd anniversary, and the Atrium's found not in compliance, WHY? Get it together Atrium, Sycamore's only 15 minutes up the road.
Other: Just like with the old Middletown Hospital, if you lived past or out of the ER, you've got a fighting chance! No one enjoy spending many hours in the waiting room, because there's no ER beds available. Open the "Other Area" that's closed until needed, if anyone is spending massive time waiting for a ER bed, its Needed! Atrium's Good ~ ER Bad
11:25 PM, 8/24/2009 its funny how the "Hatrium's" slogan is the right care is right here. ever since we moved to this place all Doug McNeil has done is get rid of upper management and hire some idiot from Florida who does nothing but hire her friends which does nothing but cause more problems. This hospital is an absolute disaster. It's shameful for me to even say i work there. We have great nurses and poor management. Thanks for the support Doug
unhappy nurse
10:28 PM, 8/24/2009 With the Valley to the north and West Chester/Cincy Hospitals to the south, why would someone even go to the Atrium. Having NO choice is the only reason I can think of!
For you health, drive to the north or drive to the south. Middie Majik
9:43 PM, 8/24/2009 After seeing how their billing scre*s up people would be better off not having insurance and get it free like so many people.
Everyone better pay attention and compare their EOB's from their insurance to their bills, seems Anthem pays them but their bills show other wise. Also make sure that your doctor write the correct diagnois for any test that he sends you for and get your ore certification, other wise you will have a mess on your hands for awhile. Not a happy camper
9:22 PM, 8/24/2009 It's not like anyone can get to Atrium anyway with all that road construction.
Atrium has been a screw up since they day they opened. The only thing they have going for them is a few outstanding employees on the front lines. go elsewhere 9:08 PM, 8/24/2009 |

went to the Atrium for a MRI cost my insurance over 5000 for the MRI. I had to see a specialist in Cincinnati they gave me a MRI at University hosp cost my insurance 2700 dollars now whats wrong with this picture . I have to have folow up Mri each year when told have them done at the Atruim I ask if I could continue to come to university. When I told my Dr why he could not believe it I said I got the written proof .I said Iwouil;d drive the 30 + miles to save my insurance almost 3000 dollars. I might add I got a more detailed Mri there. If I need hospitalization I'll go to Cincinnati or one of the bigger hospitals in Dayton like Miami Valley

Yeah retired co my wifes MRI was also a bit over $5k at Atirum. The kicker on my plan is that I had to pay the $1k deductible and Anthem paid about $198.00 and Atrium ate the rest of the charge.....go figure. So in reality under my Anthem plan the Insurance company made out.

You would think that whoever is processing the payments for the insurance companies would catch the major difference in cost of the two hospitals. If both of these hospitals are in your insurance network, and they have signed a contract to perform certain procedures for an agreed amount, how is University charging $2700 and Atrium charging $5000? Should be the same cost for the same procedure if both hospitals are in the same insurance plan, right? With my wife's major medical issues with vascular disease, heart attacks, stents, etc, we have been involved with the good, the bad and the ugly of the current health care system. The hospitals don't talk to the insurance companies who don't talk to the doctors/specialists/labs resulting in the poor patient care. The poor patient has to play "air traffic controller" between all of these entities. If the patient didn't keep tabs on what is actually happening, none of these 's would know what was going on with your health.

Hmm...you just gave me a great idea, Vet!!
I am WAY over 50!!! I think I'll declare MYSELF "historic" and apply to Kohler for funds to "restore" myself to my original condition. That should qualify for CDBG (Community Development Block Grant) money under "Neighborhood Beautification"!!!

I realize that you said this in jest, BUT...
They actually ARE trying!!!
On Wednesday I received a notice from the Middletown City Income Tax Department. It seems that their is some doubt about the tax-exempt status of the monthly benefits from my private disability insurance policy. Now, just for the record, I have had professional CPAs prepare my taxes for YEARS!!! And I have had the same LOCAL firm doing it for probably the last 8 or 9 years. We have handled the disability benefits in EXACTLY the SAME WAY, YEAR after YEAR, since I moved back here in 1998!!! This is true for Federal, and state, as well as local tax filings.
Now, all of a sudden, when I have been more critical of the local movers, shakers, and power brokers, the City challenges my disability??? Coincidence??? You be the judge!!!
But I can tell you right now, the ONLY thing that would please me more than LEGITIMATELY "avoiding" (not evading) taxes is taking on the city over such a ludicrous issue!!
