I wanted to share this video and hear your thoughts about it. Do you agree that social media is the way of the future?

While I think that is an interesting video I also think people doing that are pathetic. I actually signed up on Twitter just to see what the excitment was, I thought it was pretty boring. Call me a "fuddy-dud" but I fail to see the purpose.

I don't have a cell phone, satellite TV or cable, my car doesn't have GPS, I always thought a Blackberry was something you ate, I don't Twitter or do Facebook, I just got caller ID and it shows number only, my niece asked me once about a show she watches on satellite and when I said I didn't have satellite she asked how I watch TV,I said for free, she had no idea you could watch TV without satellite or cable, I wrote a letter once to family members and they were so shocked by a letter in the mail they donated it to a museum.

So that should give you some idea where I stand when it comes to all this new age stuff.  LOL

Hermes,
You are reading this (and you participate in this Forum) on a machine that has way more computing power than all the devices combined on the first space capsules that orbited the earth and returned safely!  It is possible for your writings to be accessed by millions of people around the globe in an instant, and they can reply to you in just a few seconds.

My friend, you are involved in this "new age stuff" whether you realize it or not!  As with dinosaurs such as myself, there is hope for us yet! Smile

Saying things like "social media is the way of the future" makes it sound more important than I think it is, or will ever be. As it was pointed out above we can all live without all this stuff. Because we of course all did not more than a few years ago. However it's clearly a fast growing form or communication, entertainment, and marketing for those savvy enough to take advantage of the web.

Like I said above,it makes no sense to me. Now the forum I can understand and easily navigate and spout my opinion (as long as Adam & Randy lets me LOL) Facebook & Twitter I don't get. I don't understand the need to be telling others all about your daily business.

Ok I am a fuddy-dud.
