I wonder if anyone knows the best company to purchase residential electricity from among the providers, besides Duke. A 30% electricity hike is just too much to swallow!!

Duke is also still trying to cash in on the power outages from 08 wind storm.

Duke has to be the worse provider I've ever seen.

but to answer your question no I don't know of any others.

Got an offer in the mail the other day from an energy provider in Pittsburgh PA. Their kilowatt hour charge was about 2/3 that of Duke. If you called, you could sign up for a year and then if not satisfied, go back to Duke or search for another energy carrier. If you decided to go back to Duke, you could re-enroll at the new rate offered at the time. (no doubt higher than Duke's current rate) It was stated that you would still be billed by Duke and you would still incur the hidden tacked-on costs that Duke normally steals from its customers. The only difference..... you would pay a little less due to the lesser kWh charge stated above. Based on this info., I would imagine that any energy company alternative you seek (other than Duke), will still have the Duke influence in your monthly bill with the bull---- charges tacked on.

Thanks guys! Vet, I also received that offer- I want to believe it. Is there anyone out there who has switched? If so, any difference in your "new" bills?
