Well.......
It seems that inspite of all the MUSA naysayers Cincy State Middletown was launched successfully and according to Dr O'Dell Owens Cincy State's Pres he is looking at the next phase of the campus development. Do you think MUSA'ers like Vivian et al could find something positive to post about this success? We will see. |

Mid29,
can you or anyone tell me how many students are actually attending classes at the downtown CS Campus? One article states more than 350 students enrolled - 211 admitted but only 185 registered, another says 217 new students enrolled on day 1 bringing enrollment to 375. Which article is accurate and how many of these students are online students? See articles posted here Just curious... Pacman |

You miss the point Pacman.
211, 185, 217 Cincy State is and will be a great success and nothing the MUSA naysayers can say or do will change that. It just kills you to admit it. Doesn't it? |

I am reminded of the two partners going over the receipts after the less than stellar opening night of their new cafe. The first partner said: "Do you realize that so far, we have lost $7,000 per customer?"
The second partner replied: "Good thing that we didn't have more customers." While I wish this venture every success, Dr. O'dell might be a tad premature to be looking at the next phase. Perhaps he would be well-advised to wait until he has some positive cash flow from this phase???

You, the city, CS nor anyone else can say at this point whether CS will be a success or not 29. Because they bought a building, remodeled it and opened the doors to some students, doesn't exactly guarantee long term success. On the contrary. YOU miss the point and will continue to do so when you support anything and everything the city leaders do. You, like them, are a tad bit premature as to the prediction of success on this. We ALL, will see in a year or two whether you are correct or not. NO ONE wants this to fail. At this point in time, ANY progress in town is good. Whether you want to admit it or not, the track record for initiative failures by city leaders is legendary and their failure record speaks for itself. It is also a fact, again whether you want to admit it or not, people like you, who wear rose-colored glasses all the time, view any catastrophe as a success. Denial of reality 29, denial of reality.....just like council, the city leaders and the few who follow like sheep, totally oblivious to the town's slow downward spiral. Keep up the good work 29. Perhaps someday, Gilleland and Mulligan will present you with a little plaque in council chambers for being a good little trooper and keeping the faith. Mercy. |

C St has brought in good people committed to making this work.
Hopefully it will progress through a few short years. This was a rush job--the place hionestly is far from ready yet. Next year will be a truer indication of direction. It is the best thing going in an area where properties no longer need to be demoed since they are now crumbling from within(and externally). Maybe city leaders will wake up and take down the rest of S Main--- what is honestly worth saving? M29? I travel this inner city daily---the property situation continues to get worse. Poverty/filth/ignorance everywhere--it HAS to stop/change asap--otherwise we continue to have little to no outside appeal Anyone want me to give them a tour? M29?

Naysayers unite!
Bring down anything positive! The glass is always 3/4 empty! Look for anything negative you can find regardless of how difficult it might be. Go naysayers Go! |

Having just moved to Middletown from Springboro into my first home in the Creek View subdivision. I do see a lot of potential for growth and redevelopment for this city. You have a great location near 75, and with Cincy State hopefully being to remove the negative reputation that this city has throughout Dayton and Cincinnati as for being known as Middletucky.
And having read the forums for awhile I agree we need to stop the Section 8 machine from taking over the city, and keep tearing down the eye sores, and start zoning in a way that will attracts middle to high income business and people to the city, and not another thrift, or car parts store. I am sure if the city were to enforce their own ordinances that they adopted in 2009, they would make a killing off of the fines considering the majority of residences don't even bother to follow them. |

29.....just as you jumped all over Tomahawk for his post.....I will return the favor by repeating your phrase "surely you can do better than that". We simply don't know enough yet to call the CS deal positive. It will have to last and do all that is anticipated to be positive. Anything less would be a failure. It has started and that is a good thing......but will it last past the first year? To be determined. Continually mentioning "naysayers" and "looking for anything negative" doesn't present a very good argument on your behalf. Too generic in nature. Addressing our comments with some sensible rebuttals may bring you and your pals at city hall some credibility. When you can provide some justification against our claims is when we can have a discussion worth the effort. |

Middletown29:
Sometimes the glass is neither half empty nor half full...sometimes the glass is simply twice as big as it needs to be. ktf1179, One of the most frequent violators of city ordinances is the city itself. It does no good for the city to fine itself.

This is very true, especially since I need to cut down the grass and weeds growing in our street, and play dodge that pothole.

Don't be distracted by mindless taunting and insults.
These juvenile tactics sPeak far more about their creator. Always keep your eye on the ball and what really matters. Cincy St is here and operating--a good thing It is in the hands of out-of-town professionals--a VERY good thing Hopefully it will grow into a major difference-making hub bringing life to an area where local govt. has failed for decades. Time for the city leadership to move on to the rest of our areas and needs(of which we have many) Hope that you caught the Hugh Laurie show @ MU-M last Saturday Outstanding-sold out-dancing in the aisles Don't miss Arlo Guthrie celebrating his father's 100th birthday Mary Black Esperanza Spaulding Dailey & Vincent Chick Corea And @ MU-H Jerry Douglas(amazing) Carolina Chocolate Drops |

M29,
I ask a simple question: All the numbers I quoted came from articles in the Middletown Journal over the last few days. I made no mention of the success or failure of CS and was just asking a logical question. Since you are the RAH RAH child by your actions, I would think you could give me an accurate number of students actually enrolled in CS. I would also like to know how many of these student actually attend classes at the Middletown CS Campus and how many are strictly ONLINE Students. since you seem to KNOW EVERYTHING, I await your answer. 29,
You seems to have a problem with both reading and comprehending. Rather than answer the questions asked, you just hurl insults as that is all you are capable of doing.

M29, your posts are irrelevant. You critizice all the naysayers for always being negative yet you are always positive about whatever city admin does. The bar you seem to set for the city's ideas and plans and expenditures is pretty low. I'm all for hearing positive news but it needs to be grounded in reality and facts, not wishes and dreams.

Middletown29,
The only point you have made is the one on top of your shoulders. By hurling unwarranted insults, you have proven that you are a PINhead!!!

Mr. Presta, insults?
I just seek truth, while you and your other MUSA naysayers go on and on with your made up negativity. Are you all miserable? Or do you just have nothing else to do with your life? |
