Taken from Weekly City Managers Report
On Wednesday January 27th, our Police Division Special Operations Unit working in conjunction with the Ohio Investigative Unit, served search warrants at 11 Middletown liquor establishments. As a result of these search warrants, 25 gambling machines and approximately 1.3 million dollars were seized. The investigation is continuing, but we hope to receive a good portion of the proceeds from the sting, though it could take a couple of years to work through the system.

Ms. Gilleland- how about the Midd. police working with the sheriff and ICE to round up the illegals that are alot more of a threat to drain our social services and damage our community than any amount of gambling machines could. How about placing a greater priority on using the police and support agencies to concentrate on the known drug infested areas and start busting some of these dealers that are a greater risk to our kids and general citizenry than what these gambling machines are. Of course, as you stated, it's all about the potential money revenue generation that the city cares about, isn't it. The money lure is what determines the target- not the degree of harm to the community. IMO, the "gambling threat" to the city is way down the list of importance compared to drugs, illegals, and your "run of the mill" armed robberies that are occuring. JMO of course.

Vet, you are right about the city being after the money. It doesn't matter how they get their hands on your money (legally or illegally, ethicly or unethicly, with a city worker lying on an official form, with the kangaroo court stealing your money in court cost when you've done nothing wrong or from running a red light that has the yellow light timing set below state minimums so as to be an entrapment) once the city has it, it's gone. Even when they admit that it was a mistake, you will NEVER get your money back from the legalized thieves in the city building. Then the city "leaders" don't know why we have a bad image and reputation. This is one more problem that must be faced and corrected if Middletown is ever going to recover.

BAM!! BAM!! BAM!! YOU ALL HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD THERE IS ALOT WORSE THING GOING ON IN TOWN THAN GAMBLING. EVERYBODY SOUNDS LIKE THEY COULD DO THE JOB WHEN THEY STEP INTO THE OFFICE, BUT WHEN THEY HIT THE CITY BUILDING TO WORK THEY ARE AFRAID TO DEAL WITH THE REAL ISSUES, ITS LIKE MIDDLETOWN CANT CLIME OUT, WE NEED A TRUE BUSINESS MAN THATS MADE MILLIONS, NOT LOOKING FOR A FRIENDTO TAKE OVER THE CITY WITH AN IRON FIST. TO MANY PEOPLE IN CHARGE.

hester, not sure why you use lower case letters for your name and then SCREAM at us with UPPER CASE in your message. Upper case went out of fashion in about 1997!
