All the nay sayers about how clean the suncoke plant was going to be come to Amanda and look at the dust thats setteled on our cars and home this past week. I'm retired and stuck here can't leave my home and just walk away. All of the folks on this side of town Like to have clean cars and homes too. most of us have worked all our lives and a lot of us are retired Its hard for us to find any way out of here now . To the Idiots that had this plant built here would you want to live where you couldn't sit outside without haveing to wash all your lawn furniture off first. I wonder when we'll all be able to say Amanda is Middletowns Love Canal. Lets see how many health problems start cropping up because of all this pollution down here.

Spoken by one of the many MUSA complainers who will also rail against the city for lack of job creation.

Yes SUNCHOKE is a bussiness but if anyone thinks that this bussiness will not do harm to the people that live around it and especially to the "KIDS" that goes to Amanda then their eyes are closed just like yours are.
I love my record tyvm,I see your record is safe for being a arrogant SOB. Have a great day and A Merry Christmas.Wink

retired co.....get an early start on documenting this. Call the EPA, your rep, etc. Take pictures of what is collecting on your cars, etc. and attach to E-Mails. Start hitting Boehner's office with it. One or two E-Mails won't get it done. Ya gotta make a nuisance of yourself weekly until you receive a response from these overpaid government reps/criminals. Sounds like you have the same problem we had on Grand Ave. with the iron oxide dust back in the 50's/60's. Oxide dust so thick you could write your name on the car finish. Wash it off and it was back on the car in a half hour. EPA made Armco put scrubbers on the stacks and seemed to reduce it considerably. Don't think the air is clean to this day as I think the industries around here shut the scrubbers off in the wee hours of the morning to save electricity costs.

we had quite the plume of coke gas the first week of November hovering over Middletown. walked out the door on a Sunday morning and it about knocked me over. reminded me of the old days. anybody remember sweeping kish off the porch every day?

my understanding is that they can operate for the first month and a half with no emission controls - so the fallout could diminish over the next few weeks.

I wish we had a way to measure coke gas concentrations - it's nasty stuff, tons of benzene.

you can smell the odor from the coke at night its really strong. As for the comment anbout whining about no jobs I'm all for jobs but if its gonna impact peoples health we don't need thoses type here . This white ash dust was so thick this morning on my vehicles that I thought It was paint overspray from something . My wife and i have enough health issues with out SunCoke adding more .
I think Neil Barille would complain also if it were in his neighborhood.

I live on Morgan Street, toward the Oxford State Rd end.  I have lived in this house for years.  I moved in knowing AK was behind me and honestly the wind usually blew this away from me.  I have always slept with my bedroom window open 365 days a year.  I can’t do it anymore.  The smell is terrible.  It is worse at night than in the day and some days are worse than others.  I was driving home the other night just about dusk and coming up Roosevelt Blvd I could see this haze in the air the closer I got the more I realized it was hanging right over Amanda.  Yesterday I walked out of my house and the sulfur smell about knocked me over.  Last night I went out to my car and even with the rain the smell was horrid.  The plume of crap was coming from that plant right over top of my house.  My dog that went to the groomer Saturday went outside to go to the bathroom Sunday evening, for 5 minutes she was out there, she came in and shook and what looked like black wet ash went all over my kitchen. That is just a bit about the smell and dirt, never mind the noise. I paid decent money for my house years ago, a house that would not sell now even in a good economy.  As far as jobs that were created what are the statistics for jobs created in for Middletown residence.  I work in Cincinnati; I can tell you I pass the Sun Coke employees on my way home leaving town.  Middletown screwed me and my neighbors.  I can’t see staying there but I would lose my shirt to try and sell now, which may be what they wanted.
