Accuro concerning the meeting that you described above and this is just my one opinion.

The next Election that any action could be taken is May 2010.  Now we just saw what happened to a group that was pressed for time and rushed to get the signatures for an action on the ballot, they failed.

Now:

1)  The election for council is 2 months away.  We stand a good chance of getting at least 1 candidate elected that is receptive to what the citizens would like to see happen in the city and possibly more.  This would be invaluable.

2)  Once the election is over and we see where we stand with Council we can take 2-3 months to get a plan of action in order.

3)  Come spring if it is putting the Infrastructure Ordinance back on the books or another issue that would be the time to start gathering the signatures to ensure we get it on the May ballot, this would give us plenty of time.

4)  It is going to take more than one person to organize an effort like this and all bases must be covered for it to succeed.

5)  I personally don't think discussing the plan of action on this web site is a good idea.

6)  You need a core group of 4-6 people to get the ball rolling and lay the ground work, then bring in the Citizens.  You need to be able to answer the questions the citizens are going to have before you open it to everyone.

Merrell:
Here's your chance!!!  READ tonight's council workbook!!!  One of the items in the "substantial amendment" to the revision to the original revised CDBG plan is to ADD MONEY for PLAYGROUND EQUIPMENT and REPAIRS!!!

Now surely they must be including $50K for the pool in the MILLIONS and MILLIONS that they are expecting, right???
