I thought drugs were suppose to be illegal for everyone, but apparently Ohio politicians who accepted the casino deal can smoke, snort and shoot up any drug of their choosing. You'd have to be high on drugs to accept this. |

Ok Hermes what exactly is your beef. The Tax percentage? The way the Tax revenue is dispursed? I have seen states whose tax rate is anywhere from 30% to 50% and some a few higher. Maryland I think is 67% and Maines only casino I believe is 50%, so maybe Ohio's politicians need to sharpen their pencils and try again. problem is if you raise the tax rate to much jobs get cut to make up for it.

Randy - I'm not against casino's I'm just against the wording of this amendment. But since I don't live in any of the four cities listed I shouldn't even be concerned actually. As for casino bringing in money just look at the lottery. It was suppose to help fund schools, if that was the case then there wouldn't be all these school levies. Misappropriation of funds is the word for the day.
Mike - your just a sick individual. And I'll bet money on that !

Hermes every state I know of that has a lottery fell into the same trap as far as funding schools with lottery proceeds. The state puts the lottery funds into the educational fund and then spends the original funds for education elsewhere, hence you got no increased spending on education, you just got hocus pocus with your tax dollars.
You would think after 4 or 5 states did this the rest of the states would catch on but they didn't and don't. watch the same thing happen to the casino funds and education.
There needs to be a stipulation that the casino funds wll be used to supplement current state and county funding for education and not be used to replace monies moved elsewhere out of the education fund.

Pacman - Thats exactly what I'm talking about. Money has a funny way of disappearing or finding itself in other accounts. I'm probably the most pessimistic person on here but it's tough to see the bright side with so much foolery going on in politics this day and age.
I have more hope for the Bengals than I do for our political situation.

While we are it, we might just as well legalize Prostitution. It would bring in lots of money and think of all the security jobs!
How about Drugs? We could have State "Recreational Drug" Pharmacies all over the State. Heck, the Drug cartels are taking the money now, just like the States near by with Casinos, so why not Drugs too? Why would any on be against a source of Public Revenue? |

Prostitution is immoral ! Whats wrong with you Irisner ?
Legalize drugs, never. Politicians make to much money keeping it illegal. Besides, what would the prisons do ?
But now gambling is sanctioned by politicians and some churches. So that has to be a good thing, right ? Not at all immoral like prostitution or drugs, come on Irisner, your not seeing the BIG picture.

Hey Hermes- I liked the guy with the machine gun better than the Bengals helmet. Please reconsider your post picture. Someday, that "winning the game in the last second" crap is going to jump up and bite 'em. Lucky to win today.(and last week) Were outplayed for three quarters. Hope Baltimore takes their loss today out on 'dem bagels next Sunday.
Issue 3- glad it's on the ballot. 'bout time Ohio got a slice of revenue. Revenue didn't need to go to surrounding states all these years if the voters had stood up to the Puritanic, goody-two-shoes contingent. This state needs to drop the "old time religion" theme and get progressive in it's thinking. Seems to be some talk about the lottery being a bust as to monetary support for the schools due to misappropriations by state officials. Seems to be speculation that the casino share of money won't make it to the schools either. Don't know yet as casinos haven't been approved. Will still create much needed jobs for the state and whatever revenue it generates would be more than we have now. If the casinos aren't approved, we'll all still be crying that there aren't any jobs in this state at the same time we are voting no and killing any chance of creating them. Can't pick and choose when we need anything that comes down the pike can we? Too far behind the other states as it is. JMO |

Vet - The Al Pacino M16 avatar made me look to violent and pessimistic. It was hurting my image. The Bengals helmet makes me look passive and pessimistic.
No I understand the hope that everyone has concerning the casinos. Jobs and a source of revenue besides people's paychecks. (actually thats what they'll be getting but you know what I mean) As I said before I'm not really against the issue just the way it's worded.
Mike - Go in half with Randy because he owes me superbowl tickets to see the Bengals. No cheap seats either,50 yard line will be fine.
