MIDDLETOWN — Middletown officials have settled a federal lawsuit filed by a Middletown police officer last year accusing the city of age and gender discrimination for not promoting her.

The lawsuit was filed against the city of Middletown, the Middletown Division of Police and Chief Greg Schwarber by Kim Robinson in January 2009 in the U.S. District Court in Cincinnati. The suit alleged Robinson, then 44, was passed up for promotion to sergeant five times in favor of younger male candidates.

The officer contended that she also was not promoted despite passing the civil service exam and having no disciplinary history until March 2008, according to court documents.

A document was filed Nov. 5 stating the case has been settled and that parties have 60 days to reopen actions if the settlement is not completed. Details of the settlement were not disclosed.

Wonder what the payout settlement will be? (paid from taxpayer collected city money, no doubt) Anyway to obtain this info. with the Freedom of Information act? You know the city isn't going to be up front with the people and publish another money costing screwup. Wonder if there is a list of all the lawsuits brought against the city, what they were and how much the city paid out on them if they lost??

Les is like Michael Jackson, He plays with people then writes them a big check, except he uses  taxpayer dollars. He always hires a high power law firm,. and he always loses.  As long as City Council allows him to continue he will do so. I too would love to know how much we have paid out due to his arrogance and ignorance. At least he doesn't have to worry about chasing AK executives for back taxes, they all left town.
