Mr. Adkins was talking about his plans for the future of Middletown tonight and he stated that he would be looking into getting grants made available to the Highland Historic District.
Mr. Smith questioned if we had other historic areas. Then he requested if these grant funds could be made available to the
Middletown Cemetery and the room went silent and everyone looked at the other for an answer. Then Mr. Adkins stated that he didn’t think so.
Well Mr. Smith the Middletown Cemetery was declared historic in 2006 and should be able to apply for any Historic Grant funds…however the real question that you should be asking is will the City even file a grant for the restoration of the Middletown Cemetery.
Mr. Kohler promised CDBG Historic Funds to the
Middletown Cemetery in 2006.
and I'm still waiting

As usual, city staff payed the "weasel word game'!!!

AJ asked if there were only two historic "districts".

I believe, and PLEASE correct me if I am wrong, in 2006 the cememtery was declared a Historic "Site"!!!

A small distinction, to be sure, but enough of a distinction to make their answer ("No, there are only two historic districts in Midlletown.") technically correct.
“Mulligan said he ... doesn’t believe they necessarily make the return on investment necessary to keep funding them.” …The Middletown Journal, January 30, 2012
