Central Pastry makes great bread but their cake icing is nothing but sugar. Nasty. Not to mention overpriced. Milton's has the best donuts & creme horns. Cottage the best apple fritters. Collette's cookies are very good. 
You want real buttercream icing? Try Ele Bakery in West Carrolton - located in the old Woody's building. Incredible cakes, cookies, pies, etc. They now have a resturant serving sandwichs and a coffee bar, too. They are hosting a buttercream festival September 20. I'm telling ya - amazing product.
