I'm a big fan of Sheriff Jones on the topic of illegal immigration and agree that all must be deported who chose not to process in the right way. However, concerning the subject of Butler County appraisers positions in Sunday's Journal, I'm not in agreement with Jones and believe this needs to be stopped immediately. Looks bad for both the Repubs and Dems when they hire their buddies behind the people's back. When are officials like Jones and Furmon going to get the hint that the public is fed up with this type of behavior from it's elected officials? This " not above board" activity widens the gap on public trust of government at all levels. We here in Middletown get a double dose of this with the council/school board distrust and now, with Jones, Furmon, ex- Attorney General Dann, and, occasionally Fox at Children's Services, I've had about all I can take fom these so-called "trusted" officials. Looks like the club is alive and well down in Hamilton, just as it is in Middletown. These people have had their chance to serve the public. They chose to hide their activities from the public. They disgust me. Now, it's time for them to go. All of them.

I think the Journal was making a story out of thin air.
What is the real story, because if you checked any public official who has the power to hire, you will find similar relationships.

Perhaps we the public, need a timely (be it monthly/semi-annually)report(in the Journal and all Butler County newspapers) of all hiring done in the Middletown city and Butler County governments. Information might be the position, who did the hiring, who the employee reports to,justification for the hiring and the salary for the position. Too much information? Not necessary, you say? Perhaps, but it is the taxpayer's money paying for all of this hiring and it is the taxpayer who demands and is entitled to efficient spending accountability of their money. We need some way to police/report these backroom hiring events done by these politicians who shouldn't be trusted.

It would be nice to have some sort of accountability. But I'm for the best person for the job, even if it is my brother in law.

Discrimination is not fair. May the best man win.
