Usually reliable sources report that Middletown Police found a dead body on or near the bike path near the old Canoe Club along State Route 73 between Middletown and Franklin over the weekend.
Why hasn't this been reported in The Middletown Journal or in the Middletown Police Briefs? Could it be because of the reputation of this area? (This area does not have a reputation for "energy conservation," which was the reason given for wasting our tax dollars and Middletown Community Foundation dollars to build the bike path. It is reputed to be a meeting place for people of "alternate life styles".) Why is our city government and our newspaper of record silent about this tragedy?

My son was an avid bike rider many years ago when these trails were first established. All of the Ohio Bike Clubs warn all riders that they should never ride these trails alone because many of
these trails go through some very secluded areas around the state. Rapes and robberies are known to happen in these areas... NEVER RIDE THESE TRAILS ALONE |

A handgun should handle to bike path threat.
Also heard, through the Journal years ago, that the Miami Park was a meeting place. Energy conservation? Remember when the city received energy improvement money meant for city government building upgrades to lights, heating and cooling. Didn't happen. Instead went to bike path work. The bike path was for recreational use and was never meant to be an energy efficient alternative to commuters. It only benefits a very small percentage of the area population. Wonder who monitors the intended use of the money given the city versus the actual use and why wasn't the city fined for improper usage of funds on this? |

I'm so proud of my hometown and what it has become. Recall 'em all. Let's start over.

Same for Smith Park, and just about any public place that might not have a lot of foot traffic. What relevance does this have to this discussion. |
