DUNHAM, Rev John L. passed away Monday, November 3, 2014, at the age of 85. He was born on March 1, 1929, in New Brunswick NJ. John was a lifelong learner, voracious reader, interested in everything, the pillar of our family, with a brilliant mind and loving heart.

While serving in the Air Force in the early 1950s he discovered both his calling to serve God and the love of his life Dolores Davis. Married June 6th, 1952 in her home town of Newborn Ga, they started their 62 year journey. John attained a BS in Engineering from Rutgers University and a JD from Boston University School of Theology.

Over the course of forty years in the ministry he served in Columbus, Englewood, Marietta, Bowling Green, Lima, and Middletown Ohio, ending his career as District Superintendent for 72 churches in the West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church. As a pastor his legacy is rooted in the lives he touched and the places for fellowship and worship he built in Englewood, Bowling Green and Lima which stand as a testament to his faith.

Perhaps best known for his oratory skills, John mastered the art of bringing the Bible to life by linking it to daily events in the lives of his parishioners. John was proud to serve as a trustee of Otterbein Senior Lifestyles Choices, culminating in the role of Chairman of the Corporate Board. He also served on the Bio Safety Committee at Wright State University. His passion to serve and love of youth drew him to work with children in the after school air plane club at his local church. He inspired a lifelong love for reading, history and travel in his entire family. He is survived by his wife Dolores, and children Kathy (Rich), Claire, David and Jim (Deb); grandchildren Jenny (Thom), Elizabeth (Tim), AJ, Russell, Robbie and great grandson Warner.
