EPA approves SunCoke construction
By Jessica Heffner Staff Writer Wednesday, January 21, 2009 MIDDLETOWN Environmental Protection Agency officials have given approval for the construction of a new coke plant here. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has issued a memo that it has no additional comments regarding the SunCoke Energy plant permit. As such, the Ohio EPA has informed the company it can begin construction on the new Middletown coke oven facility. The Ohio EPA informed SunCoke of the decision on the permit today, said agency spokeswoman Heather Lauer. The agency's decision to approve the permit, specifically how it was considering air emission credits associated with the closing of an AK Steel sinter plant in June 2003, was under review. |
