oh yeah! The city leaders are building a terrific PR portfolio for the attraction of new businessess and residents to our fair city. Bless 'em all- the young and the short and the tall! Let's review:
1. Top ten fastest dying cities in the US 2. SW Ohio mega-center for Section 8/HUD and other prestigious, city-building programs 3. Indications that we are going for the knockout punch with this latest indicator of increased crime and rape. Mercy, we're a prideful bunch, aren't we? Yessir- we are in high cotton thanks to the Gilleland administration with the support of Marty Kohler's planning/business exclusion, Carolus' "which door is it behind" finances, Leslie "Family Guy" Landen's law interpretations, Mort's "paint something- anything" program and Council's roll over-play dead-give her/MMF'ers anything she/they want(s) theme. |

Don't forget World News with "Cow Girl"..
you could also adjust Oxford's population by adding in Miami University's student population. I'd bet the students account for most of the violent crimes. Not all, but most.

Well what a shame,we are second to Hamilton for violent crimes. Darn. I thought we'd at least taken first place. Thats a real disappointment. Maybe we can do better next year.

FBI: Violent crime spikes in MiddletownPolice blame tanking economy for increase.By Josh Sweigart, Staff Writer
Updated 6:42 AM Wednesday, September 16, 2009
MIDDLETOWN — Violent crime in Middletown was on the rise in 2008, while many parts of Butler County saw declines. This is according to the FBI’s annual Crime in the United States database, which recently compiled crime statistics for 2008 from local law enforcement agencies. The FBI reported 320 violent crimes in Middletown in 2008, compared to 223 violent crimes in 2007. Middletown police Maj. David VanArsdale speculated that the struggling economy is leaving people angry and desperate, leading to violent crime. “You would see an increase in robbery when you see a downturn in the economy,” he said. “People are out of jobs, out of money and start turning to crime to compensate for their lack of income.” But property crimes — including 894 burglaries, 189 auto thefts and seven arsons — dropped to 3,820 in 2008 from 4,040 the year before. Middletown still experienced fewer crimes in 2008 than Hamilton, which has a larger population, though Hamilton’s violent crime rates declined last year. Hamilton saw 414 violent crimes last year and 4,105 property crimes. Hamilton Police Chief Neil Ferdelman attributes the decrease to a new crime-fighting strategy that targets troubled neighborhoods. “I do think our community oriented policing concept works,” he said. “By having patrol resources and by having some extra resources that work hand-in-hand with community members, we’re able to see some reductions in crime.” 2008 violent crime“Pop.” is population, and “total” is the number of violent crimes. Hamilton Pop.: 62,498 Total: 414 Middletown Pop.: 51,266 Total: 320 Fairfield Pop.: 42,315 Total: 165 Monroe Pop.: 15,025Total: 40 Oxford Pop.: 22,243 Total: 96 West Chester Pop.: 55,672 Total: 87 Source: FBI Crime survey |

Surprise! And it ain't just the economy like the Major suggests. When you set up a program that attracts low income/no income clientele, you get what you deserve. Seems West Chester has the right idea. Attract middle to upper income residents and the crime seems to be lower. Imagine that! Thanks goes out to our city leaders for creating the welfare program that brings all of the baggage that has made parts of Middletown the slums of SW Ohio. What are you going to do now Gilleland? Hire more police to counter the increase in crime? See what your government handout programs have done? You are now seeing the negative residuals of your ideas coming back to haunt the city. This is another problem you have caused by your inept decision making. Congratulations! Enough is enough folks. Run 'em out of town starting in November. Let them screw up some other town. They've done enough damage here.
