Now that Gov elect Kaisich has said he going to squash the 3'C's railroad plan, I wonder what the City is going to do with all the land that bought up in hopes of having a train stop here.

Not sure if this was brought up before, but don't most of our City officials run under the Republican party?  Which should make them opposed to all the Gov't spending they are doing, right???

rngmed, there never was going to be a train to nowhere, i.e. Middletown.  This City Council and Admin would vote for a stop for Flying Saucers if someone came to town and pitched/offered it to them.  Then they would agree for the citizens to pay for it all and they would want their own private Saucer to soar above Middletown and smile down at us peasants.  When was the last time Middletown turned down any type of Federal spending, hell they would increase Section 8 vouchers if they could get away with it.  The leadership is eager to grab onto any ray of hope for a success.  Just look at the PAC a Historic District Building covered in old Car Hoods, when the businesses in town that have been operating for years are fighting City Hall to just hang a professional sign in their windows.  Go figure.....Desperation causes city leadership to act irrationally at times, with this Council and Admin it is most of the time.

Good questions on the "now what do we do without the train" subject rngrmed. How about it Mr. Picard, Laubach and Ms. Scott-Jones. You monitor and participate on this forum. Could you supply us with some answers to what the city will now do with the gas station, old Office Outfitters and other properties around the train station? The Duncan thing will still go through but what about the rest of the area? If we try to ask these questions during citizens comments, Mulligan will just sit there with this "cat that ate the canary" look on his face and wait for the three minutes to run out and not say a word.

As for the car hoods from Cohen. No doubt, they will be in "non-displayable" condition. Send 'em up here to Wright-Patt to our labs. We have corrosion preventative methods, a large paint booth with spray guns and many primers and topcoats that will last a long time. Our painters will put a spiffy finish on those "works of art". Mr. Verdin and the rest of the artzy community will be giddy with delight when they are hung on the side of the building. They may even break out the wine and the plastic cups again for this. Car enthusiasts will come from all over to look at a bunch of car hoods and discuss for hours, how their car hood could look that good. Car hoods are a topic that one could discuss for hours, you know.

City officials may be Republicans but they don't declare a party for a council seat. It is party neutral, isn't it? If they are mostly Republican, they sure like those Democrat government fed. social program handouts don't they? You would think that, given the Repub. stance on social programs, they would be opposed to those. Guess when you're desperate to find money to run the city in lieu of "regular revenue" from taxes, you beg for anything to maintain those large salaries at city hall....correction....you beg for anything to keep the city running.

I think a good use of the city property by the railroad would be to build a new "We pay cash for gold" store or a tatoo parlor. With all of the property the city has bought, we can have these businesses on every corner. Let the goodtimes role and let the cash flow!LOL

all in the name of "art", 409

So--we thought that the building giveaway, $400,00+ in improvements and $250,000 in "expense $$" would quickly go to bring in a full slate of quality artists, create local jobs and eventually feeder businesses(more jobs).

Little did we expect a very slow start, and a first move to further junk up the area with old car hoods.
But -if this is allowed, then the dike is broken and pretty much anything goes!

I would hope that Councilmembers seriously ? what is going on there(nothing?) and future plans with their expensive giveaway investment Tues.evening.

Wow ! So much negativity ! I haven't seen so much negative talk since I announced I was running for president.

I seriously doubt that our governor elect can "squash" the 3 C's. That is the Obama dream and federal dollars being spent along with some state money. If Kasich does try to stop the train Obama will remind him that he needs federal dollars for highways and other programs and it would be in the states best interest to "go along". Money talks so once Kasich sits down in the big chair you'll see the same ole routine. Kasich will be singing that Johnny Cash tune " I hear that train a coming".
No more democrats no more republicans, vote Constitution Party !!

So--as we forget about the much ballyhooed "economic improvements" immediately coming from the PAC  taxpayer fleecing(oops! I mean "investment"!) and move into artistic expression, I hope you all will take the time for an artist ic "journey":

Anyone recognize the guitar player?
Or remember this band playing at Finkleman(MU-M)
Yes--a young Spider helped with that project.

Now--30+ years later, we are doing it again!
DO NOT MISS THE GREAT TROMBONE SHORTY
this Saturday once again rocking the walls of the facility

The train is dead, already announced, and it WILL NOT be in Ohio. It can be used for one thing, a train. Total waste of money, just like the road work a reward for the union workers. Look at the exansion of lanes on 75. Look where the bottleneck continues: down at 75 about 3 miles before crossing the bridge BECAUSE THERE IS NO LAND TO EXPANF THE LANES! So what good is havong 4 lanes when the lanes will continue to 'bottleneck' before you get ready to cross the bridge in Cinci?

Think of the contradiction in city hall and the Verdin hood project? You have the city with all this silly ban and restrictions on signs, any yet the city allows old car hoods to be used to set an identity for Middletown. I thought Middletown was reinventing itself, transforming itself from the rust belt? Yet, using car hoods simply reinforces its past. Think anyone will point this out on conucil? Of course not! Mr. Verdin given free reign to do the "buzz" as he sees fit. Yet, Mr. Kohler doesn't wan't signs out by the interestate. What's up, what's down---anyone see this contradiction?

Finally, sj, its Ted Nugent, been hunting on his ranch in Texas. Good with a bow, and pretty godd with a guitar. Here's the opening theme song for the opening of the art shop:

I tell you what we also have at our labs at Wright -Pat, something perfect for these car hoods- trash bins
