Great slide show for all realtors to show prospective clients. How about Robinette adding this to his econ. dev. presentation to potential businesses? Better yet, how about Gilleland, city council and the city leaders all agreeing to post this little segment on the city's home page. May not go well, but would sure tell the truth as to the condition of the city, wouldn't it? Sure makes us native Middletonians    at what they've done to a once proud town.

While this video is slightly dated but it does seem to really acentuate the negatives in our community.  It is sooooooo very easy to see the negatives.  It would have been much better if the authors had, while showing some of the negatives, added some of the positives.  There are some good things happening within our community.  It pains one to only see and hear the negatives.

I can remember that during one of the management reins of ARMCO/AK Steel, all were told that unless you could come up with a positive to 'fix' something that you saw as wrong or broken, you should just keep your mouth shut.  hmmmmmm, perhaps not a bad idea if used relative to issues within our city, as well.

midres- the "positives" are taken for granted. The city gets no extra credit for doing what it is suppose to do. The "negatives" need to be pointed out because we have city leadership that refused to acknowledge any negatives, having the attitude of Ann Mort, who thinks everything is just peachy keen. We are constantly pounding on city hall because they refuse to listen to what the people want for their city. They listen only to a small group of influential people that are apparently telling them what direction to take the city- which is contrary to the direction the people want to city to go.

The people have been hammering the city for decent paying jobs for 30 years...since Armco/AK downsized, the paper mills all left, Aeronca left, Corson Packaging left, Square D left.....and on and on it goes. None have been replaced by the Econ. Dev. Dept, which as been asleep at the wheel for decades. They have seen many leave, but have seen no urgency to replace them. Now the city is in deep crap because there is no revenue generation because there are no companies with jobs to offer. Given this scenario, exactly what is there to feel good about? It's all about jobs. If people have jobs, they spend money. If people spend money, businesses begin to fill back in the vacant stores to accomdate the spending. People will start buying the many vacant foreclosed homes here in town....etc....etc. The city starts becoming active again. Apparently, the city leaders are in no hurry to see that happen. JMO
