And look at #12.

It's not just Middletown, but the entire Metro area.

This certainly IS good news!!!

But didn't I recently read in The Middletown Journal that crime was UP in our fair city???

And isn't one neighborhood near the old hospital location so worried about crime there that they cited neighborhood crime as one of the reasons for obtaining "Historic District" status for their neighborhood???

The two above mentioned items either don't make sense for the #9 safest city in America, or else it certainly bodes badly for America!!!

Again this is METRO area, not just the city limits of Middletown, and it includes all of Butler and Warren Counties.

I mean, seriously, look at #12:
12 Detroit-Warren-Livonia, MI
Do you really think Detroit is the 12th safest city in America?  No, it's their metro area.

I think Forbes was premature in their postings especially when on a recent front page is an article about someone being stabbed to death. And safety isn't the first thing I think of when you mention Detroit either.

If Forbes thinks Detroit is number  12 , then I have lost all respect for them. I have been there and it is no number 12.

Yeah and it will probably be a week or so before the journal reports the drive-by shooting last night. Someone was shot at Baltimore & Woodlawn Friday night. Shocked

Not to mention the stabbing on Garfield Thursday. But we are a safe city !! Confused

Safe if you live out of the "kill zone" and have a conceal carry permit.

Dont forget the guy that snatched the womans purse at Dillmans the other day, but I agree we just as safe as we can be.

Here are the first few sentences of an interesting article:

FBI: Violent crime spikes in Middletown

Police blame tanking economy for increase.

MIDDLETOWN - Violent crime in Middletown was on the rise in 2008, while many parts of Butler County saw declines.

This is according to the FBI's annual Crime in the United States database, which recently compiled crime statistics for 2008 from local law enforcement agencies.

I can't believe the FBI would say such a thing about our fine city. "Everything is looking good !" No problems in Middletown...or so I heard. LOL
