THE FIVE YEAR PLAN
Ahhh yes I see the canal plan is still alive and well.
For the past 6 years I have heard a great deal about the plans to restore this historic canal. Surly this will be the magic item that will save
Middletown’s historic downtown area...After all we could even offer canal boat rides to keep those big bucks rolling in. This will also be great attraction to add to the new and improved Smith Park.
Hmmm 3 years ago when I requested CDBG money for the vault I was told that the City was not going to spend any more money on the historic restoration of the downtown area because the money was going to be needed to help the poor. No sir, no more frivolous spending of funds. And after all the Middletown Cemetery was not included in the 5 years plan and ya know that we can’t change the five year plan…
The voting is now over soooo….Keep your eye on the ball and watch the really big bucks flow again into the downtown area.

I guess that the big question is:
How much will it cost the taxpayers to float Sammie's boat in this canal???

Mike
The last plan was installing a pump in Smith Pond to give running water into the canal to float the boat…I can’t remember how many Million’s that little dream would cost…but you can bet it’s going to part of the next five year plan.

Yes sir it’s on it’s way.
