JOSEPH Harrison C. Joseph Sr., age 66, was called home on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 surrounded by his family and close friends. Harrison was born June 18, 1944 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Dr. and Mrs. Harrison and Beatrice Joseph. In 1966 he graduated from The http://www.legacy.com/legacies/ohio-state/?personid=144648206&affiliateID=1428 - Ohio State University , with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology. Harrison has always worked to assist the poor, disabled and elderly. During his college years he was an active participant in the Congress for Racial Equality (CORE) as well as the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC). In 1968, through his position at Neighborhood House, he organized families in the Bolivar Arms housing community to participate in the Poor People's Campaign's March on Washington. In 1970 Harrison founded CONSOC Housing Consultants where he has served as the CEO for the last 40 years. Harrison and his family have been members of The Community of Holy Rosary & St. John's Catholic Church for over 22 years. Harrison's civic affiliations include Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity, and Charms Inc. (Charmer). Professionally he was a member of the Ohio Housing Authority Conference (OHAC) and the National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO). Harrison was preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren. Left to celebrate his life are his loving wife of 43 years, Sandra Joseph; mother-in-law, Mrs. Katheryn Parks; sister, Mary E. Joseph; children, Dr. Monique (Vincent) Marrow, Mr. Harrison (Cynthia) Joseph III, Dr. Joshua Joseph, Ms. Katheryn Joseph and Mr. Michael Dickens; grandchildren, Michael, Phylicia, Merissa, Victoria, Aryanna, Sydney, Simone, Isaiah and Josephine; niece and nephew, Aux-Vasse Simms and Leon Jones; as well as many dear friends. Harrison will lie in state after 1 p.m. Sunday, August 15, 2010 in the chapel of DIEHL-WHITTAKER FUNERAL SERVICE, 720 E. Long St., where the family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Funeral service 11 a.m. Monday, August 16, 2010 at The Community of Holy Rosary & St. John Catholic Church, 640 S. Ohio Ave., Columbus, OH 43205. Entombment in Resurrection Cemetery. Contributions may be mailed to the Harrison C. Joseph Sr. Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o CONSOC Housing Consultants, PO Box 26015, Columbus, Ohio 43226. The fund will benefit the educational advancement of children at the Mansion Day School.
