I swear some of you people on here are the biggest bunch of cry babies I have ever heard of. Make up your mind, do you want a council member to ask questions or be quite? You cant have it both ways. All you guys do is find the negative in every situation. If you hate this town so much, you have three options, run for council and change it, move to a new town or shut up. I am hoping  for option 2 or 3.

What brought this up? Just reading some past post.

Don't lump everyone into one bucket.  Some of us want more questions, some want more quiet.

only in Middletown-

There are reasons for the perceived negativity on this forum. We are leery of the city building, its occupants and some of the ideas, rhetoric and perceived secrecy of city business on some decisions made by council, the city manager and others in city government. It does not make us negative to challenge city leader ideas that will take the city further down. If we didn't care for the city, we wouldn't care what they did to it and would go along with anything they wanted to do, no matter how idiotic, town-destructive or illogical it would be. We are the counterbalance to their madness. We are the people who ask the questions for those that won't. We are the people who provide supporting data, facts and evidence that what they have done in the past, what they are attempting to do now or what they are thinking of doing in the future, is going to have a negative impact on the city.

No, none of us hate this town. We just hate what the city leaders do to it sometimes and hate what it has become as opposed to years ago, when it was a great city to live in and run more for the benefit of the citizens with good jobs, more than adequate shopping, decent roads. The agenda back then was "what can we do to enhance the lives of the people living here" Now, the agenda is "we have our own ideas, that are not in tune with the people but in tune with special interests and we don't give a rats behind about the general populace". THAT'S the difference that keeps us fired up. JMO

I dunno--I don't see that many criers here, and most of the true "haters" seem to be coming from the dark sider shill camp, ridiculing those that they can't control.

If you re-read your posting onlyinmiddletown, u might find yerself very entrenched in the category that you criticize, along with yer pals mtown and a few other former MJ trolls.

Pretty much everyone here loves this city and has been around here for a while.
Most here are not dependent on city handouts for their survival though.

Many appreciate the ?s asked, and want a lot more than a few ?s.
Answers and successful programs would be a great start.
I have posted here for 3+ years--my identity is known. I can address any of these issues openly and in good faith with almost all Council and Admin representatives. Most are human and absolutely share our concerns. The barriers are coming down, thanks largely to this web site and it's handlers.

So--how will the city pull off more property purchases and "mothballing" high-maintenence aged structures in an area with little desirability where no one wants to go, and honestly has no real reason to go there anyway?

Spiraling employee costs putting us on the brink in only a couple of years.

Nothing coming in really has much tax liability, and the last few years of hoped job creation in both the east and west ends hasn't really materialized.

A few promising projects to come--still need much more.

This site has not caused any of our local issues, and seems to be working towards dialogue between citizens and their local government. All one has to do is be around Council/Admin for discussion in order to realize their complete fixation with what is being said here. Paranoia and obsession to many like yourself who can't crol this site(or anything locally for that matter). Also evidence the negativity and personal shots levelled primarily due to fear, resentment and frustration(sounds familiar-doesn't it?).

I am somewhere in the middle.  Sometimes people get a little too negative and their posts have nothing to do with the subject...I understand that is their right, and may be theraputic for some, so I just skip those.  At the same time, pretending everything is swell doesn't do anthing either.  From what I have seen, some of the city leadership pay attention to what is said in this site, and someone needs to keep them accountable.

I just wish everyone could have civilized conversations and not engage in so much name calling and putting others down when they disagree...just because someone doesn't agree with you doesn't mean they are wrong.
