Whenever any of the realists in town post a statement that suggests that our former downtown's location is anything other than prime, all of the trolls come out of the woodwork to bare their wrath at such an outrageous, extreme, unrealistic viewpoint.

This is the same individual and former city council member who also said he advocated the city should lure public or private funds to build a Convention Center out by 75. How many are there in Sharonsville, 20 minutes down the highway? What about the Mandaly, in Dayton, on 75? Yes, this is a man with vision isn't he? And, he also opened the barbecue restaurant that lasted a year perhaps? Did they ever repay Butler Cty the $50,000 loan or was that forgiven?
The Manchester could not make it as a hotel, because the overnight traffic was NOT sustainable. The immense overhead was just too much of a financial drain, and besides a handful of attorneys and occasional folks popping in the lunch, and the holidays, the Manchester just did not have sufficient traffic to move forward, and was a financial drain on its partners. While stating the obvious, I hardly agree Dave Schiavone is a visonary, far from it. He also touted the benefits of Cincinnati State as a logical option as there was nothing more that could be done for it. In other words, the effort is really more about saving the Manchester, than the effect of Cincinnati State.
I'm more upset about the public servant salaries: guidance counselors making $86,000 annually, early 30 year olds on the police force making in the 70's, doible dippers making in the >$80,000 range. No outrage, status quo. What a gig Ms. G has: $133,000 for buying buildings. Go figure.
No wonder so many in Butler Cty want to move to Warren Cty. Pay might be better there for the public servants, but they know how to RUN a county, Butler Cty does not.
