Manchester Inn has unexpected tenant

MIDDLETOWN — The Manchester Inn apparently had a new guest recently, even though the hotel and conference center has been closed since January 2011.

Police responded to the former hotel at 1027 Manchester Ave. after a city official reported at 9:25 a.m. Monday a break in where three sets of bed sheets, a set of box springs and a mattress were stolen. A window had been broken on the north side of the building, police report.

Between 3 p.m. May 11 and Monday morning, a year-old case of beer had been opened and apparently consumed, a bottle of champagne had been moved from one of the hotel’s kitchens and a playpen had been set up in the kitchen, according to a police report. It was also reported some of the rooms “had fixed up.”

In one of the rooms, a plate had been used as an ashtray and a Mountain Dew bottle was found, according to the report.

All evidence had been collected and pictures of the scene were taken, according to the police report

PROBABLY NOT WHAT THEY HAD IN MIND FOR THE MANCHESTER, BUT STILL, A NEW WRINKLE FOR AN OLD LANDMARK. HEY, LOOKS LIKE IT WON'T BE THE CULINARY TRAINING MECCA FIRST SUGGESTED, BUT MIGHT BE THAT MECCA FOR WAYWARD SOULS. LET'S OPEN 'ER UP AND TRANSITION IT TO ACCOMODATE ALL WHO WANT A ROOM FOR THE NIGHT. (APPARENTLY SOME ARE GETTING A HEAD START ON THIS IDEA) THIS GOES RIGHT ALONG WITH OUR CITY THEME OF INVITING ANY AND ALL TO OUR CITY OF GHETTO PROSPERITY. YESSIR, I'M SO PROUD OF WHAT MY HOMETOWN HAS BECOME.

Well you can place this problem at the front door of City Hall.
They stated that they were going to have a sale of all the fixtures and items remaining at the
Manchester
.
Several months later I was told the City decided not to sale the items.
I guess they are waiting for the big insurance check after someone burns the place down....
