Yes, it's only $300. , but that's not the point. Gilleland has ok'd the use of $300. from the Transit Fund, to bus the people who are planning to attend the Borrower Outreach Day meeting at Butler Tech from 2-8PM. Is the Transit Fund money provided by taxpayer money or from ridership funds? If taxes are paying for this, why does the taxpayer have to provide special transportation to this event for people who bit off more than they could chew on a mortgage? Shouldn't that be the citizen's responsibility to get there? I would be interested to see the comparison on how many people used the busses during these 6 hours versus the cost of fuel to operate the busses as well as estimated wear and tear on the busses for this time to determine whether it was a sound decision on Gilleland's part. According to YOUR leaders, this is a cash strapped city and every penny should count, right?

Vet Vet Vet take a chill Pill...lets not micro manage $300.00 and look at the bigger picture.  I would assume, ah there is that word, that the bus for the most part is for the elderly, I am not sure but I don't see the average person who owns a home needing a lift to Butler Tech, whereas some of the elderly folks may need some assistance.Big%20smile

We now know that there were three (3) people who rode the bus. The bus was downsized to a smaller one due to the lack of participation. The bus made three (3) round trips. Why??? I ask again, for $300.00 plus gas and wear and tear on the vehicle, was it a good use of money? I think not. This should have been predicted before implementation. (And yes, Pacman, it was only $300 bucks, but, more importantly, it demonstrates and supports the comments concerning this city's leadership and their lack of common sense and frugality with money, no matter what the amount.) Gilleland should have packed the three people in her car and driven them down.Would have been cheaper and made more sense. For cryin' out loud!
