Because she has the nerve to have cuts to police and fire on the table?  And half of these positions were funded with a temporary grant anyway?

I'll listen to the complaints of fire and police who actually live in this town.  The rest are just shills for their own wallet.

Ok, she's already made the police and fire folks mad. She and other city leaders have lied to the people by cutting the safety people after promising that if the Safety Levy was passed, the police and fire personel level would be maintained, yet cuts were still made. Ya still want to vote yes when the next safety levy is proposed?

The claim is if they keep cutting, response time for police calls, medic needs and fires will be increased. Future lawsuits against the city perhaps? Also mentioned in the story was the ISO rating resulting in increases to the city and the residents.

What I haven't heard from Gilleland, on the subject of budget cuts, is suggesting that some of the paper-shuffling, higher salaried middle management be cut. Cost savings on pay and bennies there. Rather than cut, ask all city employees to pay more for their bennies premium. How about dumping all those city owned vehicles they maintain and asking employees to use their own car with some compensation. How about asking all to take an across the board 10% pay reduction instead of cutting people. How about redirecting some of this extra money they apparently have floating around to pay for real estate the city has no business owning? If they have money to buy the Thatcher buildings and give away city owned property, and help renovate Cincy State, they have enough to move those funds to salvage the basics like fire and police. And finally, STOP PLOWING ALL THE CITY MONEY INTO THE DAM DOWNTOWN WHEN YOU CAN'T EVEN MAINTAIN YOUR SAFETY PEOPLE AND THE OPERATION. Mercy.

Let's see, you invite out of town people to come to Middletown so that they can feast off Section 8 handouts AND they can invite their criminal buddies to town to add to the police, medic and fire run totals. THEN, you want to slice the police, fire and medic personnel while increasing their workload.

Typical bureaucratic crap, with no clue concerning logic, from the city building occupants.

When you make a promise to taxpayers for levy funds to pay for police and fire you better keep that promise.

Gilleland is toast.

Completely wrong on all counts and suggestions.

Judy G is doing God's work and God in the city has a last name beginning with an M.

Pension liabilities exceed (will), 45%, debt load is unsustainable ands cuts must be made.

Cuts will not be made however. Ever hear of a wedge issue? The wedge issue created by council and Ms. Judy G. is public  safety. She wags the cost issue, as a wedge between fire and police. Dan Picard is point man for fire, Becker, Mulligan's, take care of police. Goal- to raise taxes. Checkmate.

Police and fire constantly over at Senior Citjzens Ctr during various events, stroking voters, including last Sunday. Today, Middie band playing. Quid pro quo- they buy their voting blocks. City and council pulled the votes to bailout Sr Ctr for the 1,000 that use it.

No cuts----NEW TAXES, ongoing. Smart people left before Atrium and AK left knowing what was to come. As Mitch McConnel says about the wise ole Kentucky saying, "it doesn't take the second kick of the mule to call it a learning experience." The wealthy owners learned, and are gone.

Then nothing else left to do but to call a realtor, price the old homestead real low, taking a guaranteed loss and leave the city.

If they keep making it this distasteful, Gilleland, Kohler and the crew just may get their wish yet to reduce the population down to 21,000 or so and have their nice little quiet "artzy/college" town. Kinda like the "Yellow Springs/Antioch/sleepy/locked in yesteryear" burg of SW Ohio. The once-proud dynamics of this town are eroding quickly thanks to these goobers and their little destruction theme.

But we are all stuck here until council sees the light, and you know that won't happen with the likes of Mulligans and Mort. When will they ever acknowledge the fact they are going in the wrong direction. A little too late now but you have to start NOW to turn it around and that does not mean cutting our safety. Show up Thursday at the city building at 4:00pm to show support for not cutting our fire and police numbers.

Police, Fire and Roads are all important and don't need to be cut. Unfortunately I can't go to these meetings given how early they are. I have always said they might get more people attending the meetings it they were held at 7:00PM after everyone gets off of work.

So let me get this straight -- we have several positions that were funded from a TEMPORARY grant about 2 years ago, now expiring. And you don't want the city to even cut those positions (6 & 4 respectively)?? We couldn't afford those 10 spots our of our own budget two years ago and we certainly can't now.

But Stanky, they ALWAYS find money, usually announced by Gilleland to spend in support of their little pet projects don;t they? Has happened in the past. Is documented in these very pages somewhere.

Let's see.......

OLD TYME STREET LIGHTS FOR SOUTH MAIN

BUYING BUILDINGS FROM THE THATCHER ESTATE WITH NO IDEA WHAT TO DO WITH SOME OF THEM

THROWING MONEY AT PAC TO GET IT STARTED

MONEY FOR BUSINESS OWNERS TO IMPROVE THE FACADES ON THE DOWNTOWN BUILDINGS

LOANS TO THE MOORMANS IN THE BEGINNING

$75,000 TO THE MMF FOR A PURCHASE

THE MONEY THROWN AT THE ROSE FURNITURE FIASCO

MONEY TO TEAR DOWN HALF THE CITY WITH THEIR LITTLE DEMOLITION PROGRAM

MONEY TO RENOVATE THE OLD CG&E BUILDING FOR CINCY STATE

MONEY FOR THORN HILL IMPROVEMENTS

MONEY TO PAY THE FINES YEARS AGO FOR THE BOTCHED REMOVAL OF THE LEVY WHILE BUILDING THE FAILED LAKE MIDDLETOWN ($300,000 t0 $500,000 fine range paid due to the Army Corps of Engineers findings)

MONEY TO MAINTAIN THE BICENTENNIAL COMMONS AND TO PAVE A PARKING LOT BY THE COMMONS

ANYONE ELSE WITH BETTER RECOLLECTION WANT TO ADD TO THE LIST OF "MONEY AVAILABILITY" THE CITY ALWAYS FINDS?

THEY COULD FIND MONEY TO RUN THE POLICE AND FIRE WITHOUT HITTING THE PUBLIC UP WITH YET ANOTHER LIE ON THE SECOND SAFETY LEVY. SAFETY JUST ISN'T IN THEIR (MMF) LITTLE BOOK OF PRIORITIES. IT WILL HELP THE GENERAL POPULACE BUT HAS NO PAYBACK FOR THE ELITE OR THEY WOULD HAVE ALREADY FOUND THE MONEY. THEY WANT TO SPEND THE CITY MONEY ON THERE LITTLE NEEDS AND WANTS, NOT ON THE MAJORITY OF THE PEOPLE.

Sorry acclaro

Raising taxes is not the issue.
Do not be fooled.

What will Queen Judith and the Doogmeister do? It's anticipated that HUD will be reducing CDBG and HOME Programs formula funding for 2014-15 entitlement recipients like Middletown. I guess this means a reduction in the current ravaging of Ward 2 neighborhoods? Maybe Cincinnati would be a destination for her?

Just imagine....Gilleland going to Cincy to do damage to that city too. Best Christmas present the people of Middletown could receive to see her leave town. Could begin the healing to a very damaged community under her guidance. Need to see others leave beside Gilleland. A group of people have contributed to the carnage. Like to see their exit also. Gilleland alone will not be enough. A total overhaul of personnel is needed, both at the city building and in the elected positions. Where have the good decent people who wish to run for office gone over the years?

Heard through the grapevine they are scrambling to stop the charges from being filed. HUD is making them comply. Does that mean not reduced vouchers? Will it go to BMHA? If they can't reduce the vouchers like they said then promised why do we need to keep her or Dougie? Well there goes their "play money"

She could save Cincinnati's street car by changing it to the Pendleton Art Trolley. Then she could give away buildings and property along the tracks.

Over the Hill
I have heard the same gossip about those at City Hall taking a trip to
Cleveland
to visit HUD officials and you can bet City Hall wasn’t smiling when they walked out of this meeting.
When will Mr. Adkins be giving the yearly Section 8 Report to the public?
