Well, the story in the Journal tells us that the General Fund has a carry over of $7.2 million. It's also at $29 million, $774,721 more than 2008. Out of that $29 million, they're going to sock a whopping $207,493 into the streets to patch 'em up. Instead of forgoing pay raises in tough economic times for the city, they're going to continue business as usual. How about using some of that $7.2 million "carry over" for the streets? Would at least give them a start. The boys and girls at city hall do a fine job at finding any reason they can to avoid directing any real money toward infrastructure repair, don't they?

We also have word that for a dollar, the Butler County Health Services group will occupy a building on Ninth Ave. The city can't sell the building because it was built with Fed funding. Wonder how many buildings around town the city owns? I thought the talk from city leaders, years ago, was to get out of the real estate business.Seems like they can't give these buildings away now.

Swallens Building $1.00, but you had to occupy with 200 jobs? I believe that is what we were told a couple of years ago when we express an interest in renting. City still owns it. Hear about 6 months ago, cheaper to tear down than to maintain. We were told the start up of electricity was not worth renting it out. Even though they let MidFest use it once a year.
