According to the Journal and the city manager, it looks as if the city is recovering nicely from the lack of funds prompted by the bad economy in 2008. Mr. Adkins, in his own words mentioned the city is in the best shape financially since he came to the city for employment. Both the Journal and Mr. Adkins painted a picture that the city was economically in good health relative to the days back in 2008. They both mentioned that the downtown was thriving. Fireworks are back and some city community sponsored programs have returned. There is now more money to fix the streets.(we shall see on that subject) Mentioned also was the town being more diversified and not having to rely on just AK Steel for employment. It is no longer a one horse town as to finding meaningful employment. They add that the city, with it's new ideas on how to attract people to the city, is gaining in interest from outsiders.

All good news.

Now, since the city seems to be on the rebound Mr. Adkins, how about cutting us residents some slack and rolling back the water and sewer rates that were so dramatically raised without any feedback from the people. You have admitted that the city is doing better financially now. How about sending some of the people's money back to them if that is true. You now have more money to place towards the EPA sewer connect compliance. Might be a nice gesture on the city's part since city government is always taking and never giving back to the citizens. Since we just wasted 96 million on the mega campus high school location, and, if history repeats itself with other school upgrades, will see nothing different in return, a gesture from city government toward the people would be appreciated.

How about a reply on this one.... please.

Credit where credit is due. Mr. Adkins will now pave additional streets with additional funds for 2019 according the the Journal story today.

Credit to the city manager for placing city funds in the much needed street repair category.
