What They Are Saying About Portman's Selection To The Deficit Reduction Committee

The Wall Street Journal: "Mr. Portman, a White House budget director under President George W. Bush, is seen as having the budget expertise and temperament to become a central player on the so-called supercommittee." - Corey Boles and Kristina Peterson, "Portman Is Touted as a Bridge Builder on Debt Panel."

The Columbus Dispatch: "His pragmatism and reputation for working across the aisle could make the difference in getting to “yes.”"
- Editorial Board, "Good Choice, Hard Job."

The Cleveland Plain Dealer: "Smart and affable, Portman understands budgets and knows how to work across the aisle."
- Editorial Board, "Sen. Portman Takes on an Unenviable Job."

The Canton Repository: "Given this amount of power, it’s obvious that the committee needs to do the best job possible of finding common ground — and to minimize politicking. Portman has shown that he can do that, a real asset in addition to his expertise in budgeting."
- Editorial Board, "Smart Choice."

Senator Rob Portman was born in Cincinnati where he lives today with his wife Jane, and their three children, Jed, Will and Sally.
