Encourage teens you know to join us this summer at the American Red Cross Leadership Development Center (LDC), to be held from July 18 - 21, on the campus of Xavier University. Since LDC is celebrating its 30th year this summer, our youth counselors have chosen the theme from a song that's thirty years old, but as new as today: "Don't Stop Believin'"!
Our 4-day, 3-night leadership conference is designed to give students between the ages of 13 - 16, and entering grades 8 - 11, the opportunity to participate in leadership sessions, to learn about the American Red Cross and the value of service and to meet new friends from all different walks of life - all in a fun environment, led by teen counselors. Please note that the age range is different from past years; we will not be accepting rising seniors or high school graduates.
The cost of LDC is $200, which includes all activities, meals, lodging and a conference t-shirt. Sponsorship funds are available on a limited basis for families who cannot afford the full amount. Campers seeking sponsorships will be asked to complete a Financial Aid Request Form.. Sponsorships will be awarded at the $100 or $175 level. If your school or another organization would like to sponsor a student, contact me and we will discuss how to make that happen.
New this year: Applications are available ONLY on our website at this link: http://american.redcross.org/ldccincinnatiarc
No paper applications will be accepted. LDC 2013 has 120 openings for student participants. These spaces will be filled on a rolling admission basis, so we encourage students to apply by April 30 for the best chance at securing a space.
If you would like to have a presentation on LDC for a group of students at your school, contact us and we will arrange for a speaker.
For more information, call Diana Wood at 513.579.3095 or send an e-mail to LDC.CincinnatiARC.OH@redcross.org ..
Thank you for helping to identify and encourage students who would make the most of this kind of opportunity!
