CHRISTMAS IN TRENTON FESTIVAL A SUCCESS |
Monday, December 8, 2003 1:17:43 PM - Middletown Ohio |
Several hundred people crowded the downtown Trenton government plaza parking lot to welcome the holiday season on Friday evening. All ages gathered for the annual Christmas in Trenton celebration organized by several Trenton businesses, government officials and the Chamber of Commerce.
The outdoor stage was filled with music provided by: Noah’s Ark Child Development Center Pre-school Chorus, Noah’s Ark School Age Chorus, Bloomfield Elementary 5th Grade Chorus, Danielle Carder, Trenton First Baptist, Edgewood Show Choir and the
Edgewood Middle School 8th Grade Choir.
Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived with a full complement of elves on an antique fire truck amid much siren blowing and red light flashing.
Even The Grinch appeared and decided not to steal Christmas but to bring a gift instead.
Santa and the Grinch posed for photos with their adoring fans in the Trenton Civic Building as angels passed out helium filled balloons.
Safety was stressed as children climbed through the specially built Fire Safety House which fills with “smoke” without the danger of toxic fumes.
Six mascot characters strolled through the crowd as local businesses provided food and drink for everyone. The entirely free event was sponsored by Ameristop Trenton and Skyline Chili with help from about two dozen other local businesses.
The only cash exchanged during the evening was a collection for the needy families of Trenton through the Edgewood Ministerial Association and several savings certificates given to lucky winners. |
