TO MONDAY, DECEMBER 19
From Ann Mort
Very wet weather and soggy turf have caused a rescheduling of the annual hot air balloon glow at Light Up Middletown. The event will now take place on Monday, December 19 at approximately 7 pm. The balloon glow, when several hot air balloons inflate and become giant holiday ornaments as a part of the Light Up Middletown display, can only be held when winds are light, there is no rain or snow and the ground is fairly dry.
Dr Mark Frazer, balloon pilot and chair of the glow, invites several area pilots to join him to represent their own sponsors, MidUSA Ohio Challenge and the Middletown Journal for the special event.
Guests are invited to enter the Smith Park site off Tytus Avenue and drive around the reflecting pond to enjoy Light Up as they also enjoy the balloon glow.
Light Up Middletown is open 6 to 10 pm every night, holidays included, thru December 31. Admission is by donation, set your own price.
Smith Park is located in downtown Middletown adjacent to the airport, 500 Tytus Avenue, just off SR4/Verity Parkway. I-75 Exit 32.
