As the country awoke this morning many believe the day is brighter than it has ever been; and after last night's inauguration, it's apparent that to many: President Obama is a "rock star". Many think this sort of popularity will be necessary to turn things around.
The city of Middletown is a diverse area, but for the most part it looks as though our town is ready for a new leader. At Miami University of Middletown students and faculty gathered to watch the historic event. As they watched and clapped with each break in the presidential speech, many business owners were listening on radios so workers could hear the swearing in of President Obama.
Across town at the Middletown Community Center, Cecerlia Thompson cried her happiest tears ever at what she described as a great day in our country. She watched the inauguration with a small group of friends and family at the center, which seemed to be the theme around town.
Middletown has been hit hard over the last few years with job loss and business closings, but despite that there is still hope in our town. If hope is a part of what we need, even a very small part, then Middletown and the rest of the county should be well on the way to recovery.
