Middletown's Veterans Memorial in Woodside Cemetery and Arboretum will be re-dedicated on July 5, 2009 at 1:00 PM, the fifth anniversary of the Memorial's original dedication. David and Dawn Spencer will be the featured speakers. Mr. and Mrs. Spencer are the father and stepmother of Lance Corporal William D. Spencer. Lance Corporal Spencer was killed in the line of duty in Al Anbar, Iraq on December 28, 2006. He was only twenty years old.  He grew up, spending his weekends in Middletown.

The Veteran's Memorial Committee is currently raising money to purchase a framed 8x10 laser photo of Lance Corporal Spencer to be presented to his parents at the re-dedication.  Donations can be mailed to Veterans Memorial P.O.
