Middletown City Manager Steve Husseman discusses with city council the need for a 'Public Safety Levy' on November's ballot.
Mr. Husseman called this a 'baby step' in solving the city's financial trouble and that the levy will only maintain current safety levels.
A review of the history of Middletown Income Tax Revenue shows that in 1997 the City generated $15.7 Million. Revenues peaked in 2004 with $18.2 Million. And revenues have declined in the two subsequent years to $17.3 Million in 2006.
Chris Amburgey said, "Hopefully with the progress and growth of jobs... there will be more revenue and at the end of 5 years we won't need to renew this tax."
