Middletown and Hamilton are entering tonight’s games on different streaks for the Greater Miami Conference. The Middies who are (10-1 6-0 GMC) have won four straight and Hamilton now (2-9 2-4) has lost five in a row. With this game the win could go either way. This is the main rivalry between the teams.
This will be the 144th time the two rivals have played each other. Hamilton has won 74 of the games and Middletown has won 69 of them. However Middletown has won the last two season games. Hamilton has a new coach this year and he is planning on having them step up their game to Middletown’s level.
Middletown is currently ranked eighth in the state in Division I. They also have the second best offense in the GMC with averaging 65.7 points per game and the defense averaging 41.9 points. Hamilton does a lot of three pointers which the Middies have not really seen much of from another team this year. Hamilton has attempted 309 treys.
Bill Edwards leads the Middies with scoring 17.3 points per game that is ranked third in the conference. Allen Roberts and Tony Peters also rank with double digits for Middletown. For Hamilton Robert Merz leads with 16.5 points per game and Drew Townsend with 12.7 points.
For Middletown the motivational message for the week is “Remember 1995” this was the last time the Middies won the GMC.
