The board president for the Wildwood Golf Club in Middletown Jerry Horn has announced that they will soon be opening its golf course to the public. Horn’s family has belonged to Wildwood for 40 years and admitted that the club is in a financial crunch after losing more than 50 members this winter.
Another board member Tom Grove has been with Wildwood for 22 years blamed the decision to open to the public on economic stress. If they would raise the dues instead of allowing the public to play they risk the chance of losing even more members.
These changes will be taking affect as soon as April 1st. The greens fees for 18 holes during the week will be around $24 and $27 on the weekends. If you need a cart rental it will be an additional $14. Since the course is busy in the morning the public will be able to play Tuesday through Thursday after noon and after two p.m. on the weekends.
Since Wildwoods liquor license only allows members to purchase alcohol nonmembers who play at Wildwood can purchase a $50 one-time fee. This will let them get gift certificates for greens fees. They will be considered members for one year and allowed to purchase drinks.
