MIDDLETOWN PUBLIC LIBRARY’S LEVY COMMITTEE ANNOUNCED

The Libraries Enrich Lives Committee has appointed James VonderHaar as chairperson for the upcoming levy campaign.  Mr. VonderHaar also serves as president of the Middletown Public Library Board.

The Middletown Public Library system serves the eastern half of Butler County – including the cities of Monroe, Trenton, Middletown, Seven Mile and the townships of West Chester, Madison, Wayne, Lemon, and Liberty and has been able to withstand several cuts in state funding in recent years –more than18% of the total operating budget.  Additional cuts of 7% are expected.  (Lane Public Library  serves the western part of Cutler County and will be asking for voters in their district to support a similar levy.

VonderHaar said, “ Our public library system is, for the first time in history, asking voters to approve a modest 0.75 mill operating levy to help defray the lost support from the State of Ohio. Through careful attention to finances through the years, we’ve been able to withstand several cuts in funding but, with the most recent round of cuts felt by all libraries and many other government services, the library has been forced to reduce staff, cut service hours and buy fewer materials. A levy is needed to maintain this important service in our county.”

Has anyone asked about stimulus money or education money for the library instead of a levy ?

Seems to me the city can get all this free money so they can throw parties and build a ghost train but yet the library wants a levy.

Anyone ?
No more democrats no more republicans, vote Constitution Party !!
