State ethics probe clears Furmon, fines Jolivette

HAMILTON — An Ohio ethics probe has cleared one Butler County commissioner of any wrongdoing in giving pay raises to his ex-son-in-law and penalized a former commissioner more than $6,600 for voting to hire his son for a summer job.

Former Butler County Commissioner Greg Jolivette must repay the county $6,626.66 by July 31 for voting to hire his son, Kevin, as a summer intern in 200Meanwhile, commission President Chuck Furmon was absolved of any wrongdoing involving pay increases for his former son-in-law, James Hamblin, while he was a county employee.

Meanwhile, commission President Chuck Furmon was absolved of any wrongdoing involving pay increases for his former son-in-law, James Hamblin, while he was a county employee.
Furmon was brought under the ethics commission’s scrutiny in early April 2008. The Butler County Democratic Party asked the ethics board to investigate the longtime commissioner for giving pay increases to his ex-son-in-law, James Hamblin.

The complaint from then Democratic Party chairman Ron Wardrup stated Hamblin’s pay increases from January 2000 to January 2002 were voted on by Furmon. His salary raised from $26,291 to $48,498.

The controversy resulted in Hamblin quitting his county job as an emergency management planner. He started with the county as a meter reader in 1996.

THIS HAMILTON COUNTY POLITICIAN POOL WE HAVE ARE NOTHING BUT LOW-LIFES.

NO PENALTY FOR VOTING FOR RAISES FOR HIS SON-IN -LAW? NO QUESTIONS ASKED THAT HE WAS TAKEN FROM A METER READER TO AN EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PLANNER? NO QUESTIONS AS TO THE RAPID ESCALATION OF HIS SALARY IN SIX YEARS FROM $26 THOU TO $48.5 thou? WHO'S SALARY GOES UP THAT FAST? PERHAPS THIS SO-CALLED "ETHICS COMMITTEE" NEEDS TO BE SCRUTINIZED THEMSELVES. JMO FURMON GOT CAUGHT....HAMBLIN SLIPPED OUT THE BACK DOOR BEFORE THINGS GOT HOT AND THE "ETHICS COMMITTEE" BACKED OFF FURMON'S CASE AND LET HIM OUT FREE AND CLEAR. THIS GOES ALONG WITH THE NEW CASE WHERE THIS DEM.(WEINER) IN NEW YORK ADMITTED TO INPROPER CONDUCT WITH THE WOMEN WHILE IN OFFICE, BUT SAYS HE WILL NOT RESIGN. THE PEOPLE IN NEW YORK SHOULD FORCE HIS RESIGNATION. HE DOESN'T DESERVE TO CONTINUE IN OFFICE, REPRESENTING THE PEOPLE. AN APOLOGY MAKING EVERYTHING ALRIGHT JUST DOESN'T GET IT. TOO MANY POLITICIANS CAUGHT USING THIS TACTIC HOPING THE PEOPLE WILL FORGET BY THE NEXT ELECTION.
