Nearly 900 people attended Saturday night's hospital event that included a cocktail reception in the new hospital's two-story atrium. The inaugural gala benefits the new Heart Center at Atrium Medical Center.
The $195 million Atrium Medical Center in Warren County is to open December 2007.
"This is really the platform for the next 90 years," said Douglas W. O'Neill, president and CEO of Middletown Regional Health System. "Our teams did a great job in putting things together. This event has exceeded our expectations."
The "All That Glitters" benefit was sponsored by Mid-Miami Healthcare Foundation. The 'tented outdoor' event featured dinner and dancing. There was also a recognition of Middletown Regional Hospital's 90th anniversary.
Attendees also got to see the main floor of the Atrium Medical Center. The six-hour event also honored physicians and Middletown community heroes, specifically Dr. Ronald Oches and Wilbur and Jean Cohen.
Funds go to the capital fund goal of $4.5 million. Prior to this event $3.9 million had been raised.
