A recent incident in Middletown involving a barfight that escalated into a gun battle on the streets between opposing groups has sparked the question of whether Middletown is becoming more violent. Upon hearing of yesterday's altercation some Monroe residents had this to say:
"I am just glad we moved out of Middletown when we did. It was ok when
we moved there, but we noticed a decline in the neighborhoods. While
there may be very nice places there, do not get me wrong, there are
somes places that need work." - jeanatte
"Whats new!" - Mr.Blue
"This couldn't have happened in Monroe." - Bill Rogers
"What
is sad is that used to be the great place to hang out. When I lived on
Gideon in the early 90's we walked down there all the time. They used
to have GREAT bands... remember the Bosstones? They would play there
all the time." - Artist Formerly Hornet86
"I used to cut the grass there. I can tell you we spent more time
picking up trash and beer bottles than anything else. I dealt with
these people on a regular basis and I can see something like this
happening. I feel sorry for the select few that are trying to get out
of there though." - Ragin Cajun
