Interim City Manager Steve Husemann has suggested that Middletown's next city manager be someone looking to advance, from running a smaller city of $25,000 or a township for instance.
Husemann made a profile of 9 Ohio city managers who manage cities of similar size to Middletown. The average salary of these managers was $131,511, the average tenure of the city manager was 7.75 years, the average experience was 23 years and the average education was a master of public administration degree. Husemann said it was unlikely that any of these managers would be interested in moving to Middletown, and Middletown faces competition in that Oxford, West Carrollton, Westerville, Worthington and Sandusky are also looking for city managers.
Husemann said Council may want to consider a salary range of $115,000 to $125,000 for the new city manager.
