The BW3's that used to be in the shopping center where Tractor Supply and Big Lots is now seemed to do pretty good business back when they were open. I think they would do just as well or probably better as an outlot business near the interstate on the Towne Mall property.

I'd bet that the folks at Fricker's probably feel the same way.

I also heard from a waitress from Applebees that there was a BW3 going in the outlot by the Burlington Coat Factory.

She said BW3 will be a competitor and is expected to take some business away from Applebees.

This opportunity could put a very attractive front view to the center.
That alone could spark interest/appeal to give us a look of actually being alive out there., and a reason to walk to the eastern end of the mall to visit future businesses between.

One can only hope there are improvements to the exterior as shown in the renderings.

In other retail-related news, the former Target store is listed for sale at $3m

This is good news.  I would think there should be some ripple effect and we may see other stores opening up.

Excellent news! The Bizjournal article:

Surprisingly little conversation here though. Burlington Coat is a great store to have in town. This should be an easy remodel - the key is moving mid-sized big boxes like hh gregg, DSW Shoe, Marshall's etc. to the mall, with storefronts facing out and connections leading into the mall. This is similar to what Northgate, Dayton Mall, and Tri-County to a lesser extent have done.

Burlington Coat Factory to open at Towne Mall

By Chelsey Levingston

Staff Writer

MIDDLETOWN

Burlington Coat Factory announced Tuesday it will open a new 55,000-square-foot store in fall 2014 in Middletown.

The new Burlington will be at the Towne Mall Galleria, located at 3455 Towne Blvd. This opening will bring approximately 50 to 100 new jobs to the community and will be one of 20 Burlington locations in Ohio, according to the company.

“We are thrilled to open a new Burlington in the Middletown community, bringing even more jobs to the neighborhood and providing local residents with a valued shopping experience,” Tom Kingsbury, president and chief executive officer of the discount clothing retailer Burlington, said in a statement.

When I saw the post, I did a quick web check.  The are apparently hiring?  Though there is conflicting info in the postings online.  There is both a MIddletown, Ohio and Chicago reference.

Well I guess it's official: we will be getting a Burlington Coat Factory in the place of McAlpins at the Towne Mall.

i made a trip to middletown a couple days ago and went to the mall to sears in the tool dept, thats it!! think i should change my name to toolguyLOLLOL well got what i wanted, but i just got to wonder how in the heck do they keep it open? i was out wasting some gas and thought i would go to monroe next and the red lights cams at oxford st and old 25 sure have some mighty quick yellow red going on!!! i was first in line at the light with no one behind me so i came to a stop with no problem, across the street was a rear end crash, the people were out of the cars looking at the damage,, my guess is that it had to be of the quick green then real quick yellow red!! right before i got there, i was going slow before i stopped cause there was no way they are getting my pic!!LOL but anyway from what i seen of my old home town, its alot worse now then what it was 8 years ago when i loaded the wagon and moved after 50 years born and raised in middletown, oooo well !! i did have my .45 on my side just in case i ran into anything stupid! but was real glad leaving middletown city limits again!! and returning to my new home and a purdy new blacktop street!!Big smile and in a excellent rating school that spends way less than middletown, to do the job!! and also way way less crime!! city leaders then and now have sure made a mess that, imo  the mess is not done messing!! now all you can do is sleep in it!! they have wissed the funds away for many many years and it is sure showing it!!! but lookout mr. doug is here to save the day!!Wacko
